Things I Just Found Out I Know...1

Here's something I didn't know I knew. I don't like critiquing other writer's work. Who am I to make suggestions when I don't even know if my own stuff is any good? It makes me feel somewhat like a hypocrite and a little mean. I do see the purpose, but I don't like it.

You are your own worste critic. Most writters don't think much of their own writting (unless they are hot headed fools...) Writting is a means of expression, it is art. It's all about feelings and opinions. If you are able to know what you like and don't like in other's work then it helps you build your own style. Personally, I love to hear people's opinions of my work. Only those who know me and understand the foundation of my art have opinions that I will take to heart (becuase they know me and my potential). It is wonderful to know what others see in my work, it really helps me considered the possibilities of what can be expressed. Share your opinions openly, it will help you grow as an artist, it will help those you are critisising too.

Thank you T, you make a lot of sense. I was workshopped for the first time Tuesday, and I got so much from it. I didn't like it at first, but reading the letters later made me think. It is very helpful. I still struggle with not feeling qualified to critique others, but I am working on it. You have made me feel a little better about it. Thanks.
